What people say about this course

"Excellent complement to the three-day DSP theory course."
Kumar Arumugam, BAE Systems
"Finishing touch to the (three-day) DSP course."
Eric Cheer, BAE Systems
"Excellent. Some very useful tips on helping the compiler optimise code."
Anon, July 2005
"Very comprehensive."
Adeline Daly, Electronic Engineer, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory

Note that this is a one-day optional supplement to the three-day DSP Theory and Application course. This course can be taken as a stand-alone course.

About the course

  • A one-day supplement to the Digital Signal Processing course that takes the theory and translates it into practice.
  • The course will include a mixed lecture and demonstration format and has been written to be independent of target processor architecture.
  • The course will show how to take common DSP algorithms and map them onto common processor architectures. It will also give a guide line for how to choose a DSP device, in particular how to choose and use the correct data word length for any application.
  • In addition to the algorithmic coding issues, the course will also cover the use of hardware specific functionality such as the use of internal or external memory and how to use DMA engines to optimise the use of both.

Who is it for?

Graduate level engineers and computer scientists who have limited experience with, and/or limited knowledge of DSP. Although a reasonable competence in mathematics will be helpful it is not essential and all the basic theory will be covered from scratch.
